Institute in Wheeling, WV now has a site that describes the full
range of arts activities from theater to film to the fine arts.

Shining
Reflections Vocational Training Program provides vocational and
other services to people with mental and physical disabilities in the
East Liverpool and Columbiana County, Ohio area. Shining
Reflections also has a very active arts program.
The Cultural Center of Fine Arts in
Parkersburg, WV has a new Web site. The site includes information
about the Center's exhibits, annual Realism competition and classes.
The Ohio Arts &
Crafts Guild, started in 1963, is a not-for-profit service and
informational organization representing practicing artists and
craftspeople at all levels of achievement: amateurs,
professionals, and students. Our membership represents people of

Appalshop
is a media arts and cultural center located in Whitesburg, Kentucky, in
the heart of the Central Appalachian Coalfields. Appalshop produces and
presents work that celebrates the culture and voices the concerns of
people living in the Appalachian region.
The Augusta Heritage Center of
Davis & Elkins College in Elkins, West Virginia,has been associated
with the finest in traditional music, crafts, dance and folklife for 27
years. The Center's activities fall into three categories:
folklife programs, public events, and the program weeks known as the
Augusta Heritage Workshops. For seven weeks of the year the Davis &
Elkins College. Since 1972, Augusta's Heritage Arts Workshops
have brought together master artists, students, musicians, dancers, and
enthusiasts of all ages, to explore a variety of folk cultures.
The Athens
Center for Film and Video was created in 1979 as an organizational
outgrowth of the Athens International Film Festival, started in 1973 in
Athens, Ohio. The Athens Video Festival, now incorporated with the Film
Festival, started in 1979. Over the past twenty-five years, the Athens
Film and Video Festival has highlighted the works of a wide variety of
film, video, and media artists.
The Art Deadlines List is a
monthly newsletter providing information about juried exhibitions and
competitions, call for entries, poetry & other writing contests,
jobs, internships, scholarships, residencies, fellowships, casting
calls, auditions, tryouts, grants, festivals, funding, financial aid,
and other opportunities for artists, art educators, and art students of
all ages. The List has a free list and a subscription only list.
The Blues,
Jazz & Folk Music Society is a non-profit music society
promoting blues, jazz & folk music in the Mid-Ohio
Valley. They are an all volunteer organization that
for twelve years has provided cultural information, dance
& music workshops and benefit concerts as well as nationally
recognized blues, jazz & folk acts in the Marietta area.
Henry Robert Burke
is one of the foremost historians in the ORBI region concerning the
underground railroad, the Civil War and African-American cultural life
in southeastern Ohio. His web site has a wealth of information
about these topics.
Huntington
Outdoor Theatre in Huntington, WV, has a new site on the Web.
This site is under construction, but has interesting links to other
theater sites and has a brief description of HOT. HOT will be
adding to its site on a regular basis in the coming months.
The Oil & Gas Museum
in Parkersburg, WV has a Web site devoted to the history of the oil and
gas industry in the Ohio Valley region.
The
Hur Herald from SUNNY CALHOUN COUNTY WEST VIRGINIA will take you
back to a kinder and gentler time. The Herald is a cheap,
often unedited, sometimes misspelled epistle with shaky financial
backing and poorly defined goals. It is respectfully printed for
the information and amusement of my neighbors and curious other
folks. It is generally written with a kind heart and with a
notion that we should laugh at ourselves, and that stories and memories
are among the greatest gifts we share, and besides, we'd just like to

American Crafts of Nelsonville, Ohio provides quality education in
the crafts, as conceived, designed and made by individuals or teams who
